Awww come on people, this is unbelievable. Here in The Netherlands a lot of people are both happy, because she kept polarizing the whole situation, and unhappy, at least she debated, that Hirsi Ali has somehow left The Netherlands and now is more part of American neoconservative politics, then a Dutch force, both stabilizing and destabilizing the religious debate. Instead of someone filling the position that opened when she left, a number of people were so eager to be in the spotlights themselves they didn’t mind the debate-part. In a debate you can use strong language, real strong language, but as long as you are actually adding something to the discussion almost anything goes. But not with the people who tried to be in the spotlight 24/7, people like Marco Pastors, who kept claiming certain cultures allowed certain people, like Antilleans, to steal anything from anyone, because it’s their nature :S But he claimed there are even ‘worse’ people, like muslims, who, whenever they’re accused of wrongdoing, use their religion as an excuse. But wait, there’s more…
Aside from Pastors, there was the rise of Geert Wilders, or actually, the downfall of Wilders, because all he did was claiming Muslims suck, Muhammed is an idiot, and the Qur’an should be banned. Do you think it’s strange he has received threats? I’m against both harassing others and making threats, but since Wilders denied every invitation to debate with ‘the other’ I can definately understand those who threatened him. Unfortunately that’s exactly what wilders wanted to happen. Afterwards he was claiming: “see, they’re eeeeevil, now I need more security”: more security=more attention=more interviews–>more harassing of muslims–>more threats etc. Finally several Dutch social organisations are starting to work together to stop this madman from destroying Dutch society. For several years people have tried to talk with him, but he doesn’t want to be talked to, or talk with anyone, he just wants to preach hate. Because we can’t talk any sense into him, those organisations will create somesort of stop Wilders movement, hoping to show the Dutch people what’s true and what’s not.
Though this madman has gotten over half a million votes, there’s a bigger danger, Rita Verdonk. She preaches hate the same way Wilders does, but she does debate. She’s like Wilders with a brain, thinking about political strategies, even trying to take over leadership in the Dutch VVD-party. Her coup failed, the party has thrown her out, but she has recovered and is trying to gain support from other extremists within her old party, support she is currently getting. Hoping this polarizing within society, this destruction of social bonds, would just be a Dutch thing, I got disappointed when I read this article with a very good title. “… launches attack on..”.
That’s right, no debate, no nothing. Just because a number of people act in a way we don’t understand, nor approve, doesn’t mean we can start harassing tens of millions of people. Why, why is this man trying to start a crusade against so many believers who have absolutely nothing to do with the namegiving incident? Is it because of the spotlights? Does he want to receive a bonus from Rome? I don’t know, but what I do know is that when people don’t start backing down, society as known today, will cease to exist. We might as well divide the world by building a great wall. With the ‘good’ white men and women on one side and the ‘eeeevil’ others on the other side. Oh and by the way, doesn’t matter if you’re a black christian from the Antills, you’re evil too, because you steal, it’s your culture, at least, according to Pastors.
